Henrhyd Falls Wedding Shoot
I can’t stop looking at these images. I think this is one of my favourite shoots ever. And I can’t explain how exhilarating it was doing this shoot. We got soaked to the bone. Zoe’s dress got drenched. Cory was brave enough to sit in the freezing cold water. But it was totally epic. And I don’t use that word often!
Zoe and Cory made a 600-mile round trip to celebrate their wedding in Wales, along with their friends and family. Their wedding took place at the New House Hotel in Cardiff. And the following day, I met with them again at Henrhyd Falls, where they filmed a scene for the Hollywood blockbuster Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises!
They put their wedding gear back on and we headed down the falls. The night before, it had rained relentlessly. As we approached the falls, the noise of the water was phenomenal. I’ve never heard anything so loud. There was a colossal amount of water spilling over the top of the falls.
Zoe and Cory were just so natural. They needed no direction or guidance. They are so good infront of the camera. And I could tell they were enjoying the shoot.
Having never shot in a waterfall before, I didn’t really know what kit I’d need! So I took a couple of flashes, soft boxes, lights stands and 5 different lenses! But as we got shooting, I felt natural light was the way to go, so the flash stayed in the bag! Which was also drenched by the time we finished. I switched between 35mm, 50mm, 45TSE and 14mm.
We waited til the last minute to walk behind the falls, because that was basically like standing under a shower on full-blast! I’ve never gotten so wet at a shoot, not even at wedding in the rain! But it was so worth it.
These will remain in my memory as some of the best images I’ve ever captured.
